hehehe, forget HO sized roos... 32nd sized roos should do the trick

and, i fink you should make a po po car. then you can just glob some hot glue in the car, and BAM you've got a copper.

Re: Pimp Your Ride
which leads to the question, Cam, can you get mini-555 ic's to make a monostable vibrater circuit? I think a normal DIP would be too large for HO ... ?

Re: Pimp Your Ride
yeah, i'm sure surface mount 555's exist, and that would be pretty easy to build, but if you are going to go surface mount you'd need to make a pcb...

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand !

Timelapse is actually like this:

http://neophytte.mine.nu/photo/2005-11-30-perth/

or, if you don't have Flash installed, like this:

http://neophytte.mine.nu/photo/2004-02-29-sunset/

what you are taking are long exposures ... (sorry for the nit-pick )

Hi guys, I'm a newbie to HO and have been soaking up all the info I can. I've been to most of the sites about lighting your slot cars (mostly 1/32) and then found your little corner of the web.

Just wondering if you could post some info about the circuit used above. I see what I think is the gold cap, but I don't see a voltage regulator (perhaps its under the Gold Cap?).

Note: I'm just in the research phase so I haven't actually tried anything like you guys have.

I've been researching the possibilty of shrinking the design down even smaller using mostly surface mount components.

There is a gold cap that is smaller than the one in most of the circuits I've seen, but its 3.3v and .2F. But when you put it in series is becomes 6.6v and .2F. So with two of them its still smaller than the Gold caps I've seen. And you can distribute the two into different nooks for even more slim lining.

If you go only with a battery then the circuit gets much simplier. There are lots of circuits available that show you how to run the high brightness white LEDs (w/4v drop) from a 1.5v battery using charge pumps. But I like the idea of brake lights and not having to change batteries or turning the switch off to save the battery.

The other idea was to grind off some of the LED clear casing to make it smaller and shorter or using surface mount LEDs. I also thought it might be good to mask or paint black most of the back of the LED so the light doesn't light up the body.

Obvious future projects would be to have the headlights/taillights/and cherry on top all flashing like an undercover police car. Another one I would live to try , but the parts would most likely be too many is to have a bunch of rectangle surface mount leds going back and forth like in night rider or the cylons in battlestar galactica.

Well I think thats more than a long enough post for a first one

thanks,

Konrad

PS: I'm way over in Canada on the West coast

Re: Pimp Your Ride
Yeah, what you see there is incomplete, no regulator installed...

I've already started to look into surface mount LED's waiting for them to arrive so I can start playing...

As a suggestion: replace a 9" straight with a single crossover, then both sides of the track get a workout ... :

Cam, can you put up the circuit diagram and a parts list?

This is pretty close, I tend to tweak things a bit..

this is for 32nd cars.. not that it makes a lot of difference...
