The first mix seemed better, probably due to the second being done outside on a cold, rainy night (Thursday). There are small bubbles on he top, but I'm not sure whether they were caused by air, or it may have been water as I moved the project from the back where I was mixing into the garage, and it may have got some droplets on. However this seemed to be superficial on the top of the mould (the bottom as it would sit), and doesn't seem to have affected the actual inside of the mould.

2) Inhibition of cure where the silicone has a reaction with the type of plastic or material it is comig into contact with causing it to not cure properly (not so common but ruins a project totally) \

Everything seems to have cured properly within 24 hours of mixing and setting

Let the casting begin!!!

Re: Moulding
A fairly quick update as we have some people over; emailled Roger Corrie this morning ( a well known resin-caster from the US - he often has stuff on eBay .. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZvabchrog ) nd found out the secret to removing vasoline from the Silicone, 30 seconds in the microwave and wipe it all clean with an old cotton t-shirt. So cleaned up and got all the stuff ready for casting. Gave the silicone a dust with talc

Re: Moulding
There's still some cleaning up to do, but I was pretty happy for a first attempt.

Re: Moulding
An hour later I'd finished off three bodies, the spoilers turned out better than I expected (as I was thinking they would fail!). From Left to right they are the original, cast 1, 2, 3, and the next project, a BMW 2002 for a T-Jet chassis

Re: Moulding
Richard - if you can modify your moulds so the windows are empty, I can form some clear windows for ya

I like the look of the old BMW!
