Richard - if you can modify your moulds so the windows are empty, I can form some clear windows for ya

Cool! The windows are very thin plastic, but were more succesful on the Mitsu than the Beamer ... I'll throw some bodies your way as I could do with a window mould!!

Re: Moulding
Anyone got a stripped down SG+ chassis I can borrow to make a mold from? I start taking them apart but can't seem to get the motor out - alternatively, how do I get the motor out????

I need to mold a couple for size shaping of the GT40 project; and as the SG+ is with or without body clip, seems the perfect chassis to base it on

I've got one you can have
or
The motor is only held in by two clips (visible from each side of the chassis). Slip a small flat head screwdriver down the side of the endbell housing and lever the motor out. If you find the clips it will probably make more sense.

Re: Moulding
The chassis and 'doo-dads' turned out ok; these will be for measuring, shaping and chopping up for turning Matchbox type cars into AFX type cars ...

Re: Moulding
Tried some different paints with the resin mix; this one is a "glow in the dark" paint - but doesn't seem to have mixed sucessfully

Re: Moulding
Super failure - food colouring destroyed the base chemical compound of the resin an made a terrible mess. Now I'll be cleaning that up for the next week

Re: Moulding
And one of the Ford GT40 bodies, although I prefer the body shaping and extra styling of the one on the left (with the black stripes), the wheelbase is about 1.5mm too long (Matchbox GT2005 1:62), whereas the other is about right (Hotwheels Ford GT40)

Re: Moulding
Saving this picture here as a different way to mount the body; I was going to make the chassis with these clips already attached, but it makes more sense to make a seperate piece that can be added and matched according to the individuals taste

Notice the car on the left...

BTW...I've followed your progress long before I registered...you've really got me thinking about casting a few of my favorite cars that never made into the slot world...

WELL DONE!

Re: Moulding
Russ,

Thanks for that - for some reason I can't get the AW camera to work on my home PC - and I've noticed that they also won't ship to Australia (but that' another grumble )

Don't just think about it - do it!! Roger Corries site gives all the materials in the American flavours - I'm still having to experimnt to find out the Aussie flavours of resins and silicones

Post some pics when you get some done!!!

Cheers

Richard

Re: Moulding
This is the Enzo Ferrari cast sat on a SG+ LWB chassis; the colour variations seem to be enhanced by the camera as they don't seem so obvious on the actual model - I believe this is caused by the vasoline used to seperate the two mold parts, as it happens every time on the first few casts ...
